The concept of Inclusive Education

A. Understanding Inclusive Education
Inclusive education is education that is open and friendly towards learning by promoting actions to appreciate and embrace the differences. Therefore, inclusive education is understood as an approach that seeks to transform the education system by eliminating barriers that can impede each individual student to participate fully in the education that comes with support services.

B. The purpose of Inclusive Education
Inclusive education goals are:
  1. Ensuring that all children have access to education that is affordable, effective, relevant and appropriate in the area where he lives
  2. Ensuring all parties to create a conducive learning environment for all children involved in the learning process. Thus, inclusive education is a process of increasing student participation and reduce separation from culture, curriculum and the local school community.
C. Principles of Inclusive Education
  1. Open, fair, non-discriminatory;
  2. Sensitive to any difference;
  3. Relevant and accommodating to learning;
  4. Centered on the needs and uniqueness of each individual learner;
  5. Innovative and flexible;
  6. Seek cooperation and mutual assistance;
  7. Life skills that streamline the individual potential of learners with the potential of the environment;
D. Principles for the Implementation of Inclusive Education.
  1. Friendly education,  learning environment-friendly means friendly to students and educators, the children and teachers learn together as a community of learning, placing children at the center of learning, encouraging the participation of children in learning, and teachers have an interest to provide the best education.
  2. Accommodate the needs. Accommodate the needs of each learner is an effort to improve the quality of education. Therefore, the organizer of the school is expected to be able to accommodate the needs of each learner in the following manner: (a) pay attention to the condition of the learner, the abilities and needs of different style and different learning levels; (b) using a flexible curriculum; (c) using various learning methodologies and class organization that can touch on all children and respect for diversity; (d) utilize the surrounding environment as a learning resource; and (e) working with the various parties concerned.
  3. Developing the potential of learners as optimally as possible. Inclusive Schools seeks to provide educational services as optimally as possible, so that learners who have barriers to overcome the problem and be able to follow the learning process according to their needs and abilities.
